Position: Vietnamese TEI Case Management Worker
The Vietnamese Australian Welfare Association, NSW Inc (VAWA) is seeking a community oriented “people person” to manage and coordinate the delivery of a “Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) Case Management Project” providing Parenting Education alongside Educational and Wellbeing Supports to vulnerable Vietnamese families with children 0 – 18 years of age in the Canterbury/Bankstown and Fairfield LGAs.
VAWA was establish to assist newly arrived disadvantage migrants and refugees with their settlement in Australia and currently provides a number of programs/activities to vulnerable youth/children and their families within Vietnamese community in preventing them from being at risk. VAWA is a major leading Vietnamese social welfare organization in Sydney.
Under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), this position is seeking a person of Vietnamese background who presents with strong language skills in Vietnamese and English and possesses a strong understanding of the Vietnamese Culture and the challenges faced by Vietnamese families with children living in Australia.
Candidate for the Vietnamese TEI Case Management Worker must also address the essential criteria below when applying for this position.
Essential Criteria
Ability to manage and coordinate various aspects of the projects including communications with other professionals delivering project components
Previous experience in community development and working with disadvantaged Vietnamese families
Ability to recognize, monitor and report on quality service provision
Knowledge of compliance requirements when working with funding contract obligations
Previous experience working with/in the Vietnamese Community in Australia
Obtain a tertiary qualification
Ability to actively engage with Vietnamese families facing hardship and/or challenging life circumstances
Ability to communicate (written and oral) proficiently in Vietnamese and English
High level written communication skills
Previous administration skills/experience
High level time management skills
Teamwork skills
Experience with data entry for government record purposes (AUSKey & Data Exchange System)
Mandatory Criteria
Valid Working with Children Check and Police Clearance
Current Drivers’ License
Note: To be eligible for this position, the successful application must also have or be willing to undertake a Working with Children Check and Police Check prior to employment.
Employment Details
The candidate will need to commence in the role on 02 January 2020 on a yearly contract basis. The contract will be reviewed and renewed by the end of the financial year depending on the outcome of the first year performance. This position is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice.
This is a full time role for 38 hours per week with all entitlements
The successful candidate will be employed under the Social Community Services Award – Community Services Worker Level 4 Pay Point 1 Year 1 ($35.12/h)
